Getting Here and Around in Limón
Getting Here and Around
If you're coming to the Caribbean coast, you'll pass through Limón. The Guápiles Highway that began in San José ends here at the ocean but bypasses the heart of downtown by a couple of blocks. Budget about 3½ hours for the trip. Just after the sign to "Sixaola" and the coastal highway south to Cahuita and Puerto Viejo de Talamanca is the city center. The main bus terminal lies at Avenida 2 and Calle 8, across from the soccer stadium, and serves routes from San José, Guápiles, and Siquirres, with buses arriving several times daily from each. Opt for the directo (express) service from San José rather than the corriente buses, which make many stops along the route. Buses to Cahuita and Puerto Viejo de Talamanca and all points on the south coast arrive and depart from a stop across from Radio Casino on Avenida 4 between Calles 3 and 4.
