Mawamba Lodge Review

Nestled between the river and the ocean, Mawamba is the perfect place to kick back and relax, and it is also the only jungle lodge within walking distance (about 10 minutes) of town. Packages include transport from San José; when you arrive at the river town of Matina, you're whisked into a launch for a 2½-hour ride to a 15-acre site with comfortable (hot water!) rustic cabinas with bright colors and garden views. Meals are taken in the spacious dining room, and are included in the price, along with transfers and guided tours of the jungle and canals; trips to turtle-heavy beaches cost $10 extra. A sunset dinner cruise is the perfect way to end the day but it's also not included in the price. Packages begin at $230 per person.
