Launched by Argentinean owners who longed for quality chocolate made from local cocoa, this remarkable restaurant/bakery/chocolateria is one of only four places in Costa Rica to grind its own cocoa beans. Start with a meal in the open-air restaurant serving savory empanadas and chipotle wraps with a creamy secret sauce. The homemade cannelloni with spinach, ricotta, and walnuts is a great vegetarian option, and the mole dishes are about as authentic as you can get, since
the owner spent years perfecting her culinary skills in Oaxaca, Mexico. When it comes to the sweet stuff, the ganache with blackberry sauce and the chocolate passion fruit mousse are both decadently delicious, as are the exquisite truffles. Tours of the attached chocolate factory are available daily at 2 and 4 for $12.
