Safety in The Southern Coast

Most visitors say they feel safe on the Placencia peninsula and in Hopkins. However, petty theft is a perennial problem, especially in Placencia Village. Many budget travelers report thefts from their hotel rooms. A few Placencia hotels, and most of the more upscale resorts up the peninsula and in Hopkins, have security guards. Visitors may get hassled a little on the streets of Dangriga, and care should be exercised if walking around town after dark.
