10 Best Nightlife in The Southern Coast, Belize

Barefoot Beach Bar

After dark, Barefoot gets its share of seaside sippers. For a bar, the food is good, and it has one of the best selections of rums on the peninsula, as well as occasional live music.

Casino at The Placencia

A small casino holds court next to The Placencia Hotel with some 150 gaming machines and several live tables for blackjack and roulette.

Hobbs Brewing Company

A local microbrewery is giving Belize’s ubiquitous Belikin beer some competition in this part of the country. Hobbs’s line includes Wildcat India Pale Ale, Hummingbird Golden Ale, and Blue Marlin Coffee Stout. Stop by for a weekday brewery tour and sample the goods day or evening in the brewpub north of the village near the airstrip.

Pickled Parrot Bar & Grill

The Thursday-night trivia contests here are a village institution. Weekend evenings give way to live music.

Pyramid House

This Maya pyramid-shaped wine store/wine bar offers, arguably, the best selection of the fruit of the vine in the country. Stop by for wine and appetizers in an artsy, sophisticated setting. Call ahead if coming in the evening. The place keeps irregular evening hours, especially during the summer off-season.

The Flying Pig

This busy roadside sports bar serves ribs, burgers, pizza, and other bar food, along with quantities of Belikin beer, with local musicians on open-mic nights, and occasional other nights devoted to trivia contests.

The Little Wine Bar

This place brings a dash of casual sophistication to laid-back Placencia Village. The emphasis is on casual. Jackets and evening dresses are best left at home. Partake among one of the Southern Coast’s best selection of wines, accompanied by a cheese or charcuterie board.

Tipsy Tuna

Known for friendly service, Tipsy Tuna is Placencia's largest open-air beach bar. There's live music some weekend nights, and you can always shoot pool or watch sports on a big-screen TV. Fill up on bar snacks like burgers, fajitas, tacos, and shrimp baskets. There's karaoke some nights and Garifuna drumming occasionally.

Toucan Jack's

You’ll need to make it an early night here since the place closes at 8 every evening. While they’re open, though, you can count on cold beers, tasty margaritas, and lots of shrimp ceviche and chicken wings. A few evenings give way to live music.
