Things have changed from when Fodor's first reviewed this...It is not close to being immaculately clean. There's thick dust covering the ceiling fan; very noisy and the bathroom has a dank odor. Could only handle one night, had to book into another inn which was far, far better.

This was one of my favorite destinations on our trip to Belize. Tipple Tree is right on the beach and such a good value. Basic, but has everything you need including the Caribbean breeze. Tricia was very hospitable & has many good suggestions for things to do & places to go. Renting her bikes to see town is definitely the way to go & be sure to get her water refills. Our favorite restaurant was the Whistling Seas on the beach. It was one of my favorite meals on the entire trip. No waiting in line and almost feels like you're at someone's beachfront home having an authentic Garifuna meal. Also recommend checking out the drum center for a show. It exceeded any expectations we had, pure talent there. Hopkins was the best stop to get a rich, cultural experience and meet some truly fabulous people. If you are looking for a cultural destination on your trip to Belize, Hopkins Village & Tipple Tree will not disappoint.

Maybe things have changed since 2005, but we did NOT enjoy our stay. We moved to All Seasons Guest House after just one night! Except for not being right on the beach, we had a great time and the room was way, way better as was the atmosphere etc. We didn't even mind not being on the beach (right across the street). All Seasons has beautiful decor, a wonderful owner, Ingrid, and even has air-conditioning for the same price range as Tipple Tree.

Tipple Tree was noisy, run down and musty smelling.

    Never again.
