Fodor's Review

Four lodges in southern Belize are being developed by Ken Karas and the company he manages, Belize Lodge & Excursions, offering pricey all-inclusive experiences in remote areas. One lodge, Balaam Na (Ketchi Maya for House of the Jaguar) is in a 13,000-acre private reserve off the Southern Highway near Indian Creek. It has three suites and two captive jaguars. Another is the Jungle Camp, also in the reserve, reachable only by river boat, with bungalows set beside the

Golden Stream river. The third is Moho Cay Lodge off the coast of Toledo, with "safari-style" tents on platforms with thatch roofs. The fourth, on the Southern Highway, is currently not operating as a lodge. All the properties are all-inclusives, and guests can transfer among the three properties. Daily all-inclusive rates are around BZ$1,800 double per day, and include accommodations, meals, some beverages, tours, taxes and local transfers (but not flights to or within Belize).
