Although American dollars are accepted everywhere, you can exchange money at the border crossing in Benque Viejo del Carmen. Banks in San Ignacio include Atlantic, Belize Bank, and ScotiaBank. They are all downtown on Burns Avenue. All have ATMs, and all now accept ATM cards issued outside the country.
