Fodor's Review:

This was the first jungle lodge in the Cayo, and owners Mick and Lucy Fleming have spent 30 years polishing Chaa Creek to a fine, rich patina. To start, the gracefully landscaped grounds, surrounded by 340 acres of rolling hills above the Macal River, are magnificent. On the grounds are the Rainforest Medicine Trail, Natural History Centre, and butterfly farm. There's a friendly and competent staff of 100. The whitewashed stone cottages with thatch roofs and custom-made furnishings are both simple and elegant. Ideal for honeymooners are the "tree top" and other suites (BZ$1,170) with whirlpools. A new two-bedroom villa suite (BZ$1,370 for up to four persons) is located above the spa, which incidentally is widely considered the best spa in Belize. For cost-conscious travelers there's the Macal River Camp, with small A-frame rooms on individual wooden platforms (BZ$220 double, including meals). Dinner (BZ$64) is a special event, and a full breakfast is included in the rates. Additionally, Chaa Creek's tours are among the country's finest, and horseback riding is available. Pros: Stunningly beautiful grounds, excellent staff and service, lovely cabañas and suites. Cons: Lodging and meal prices have jumped in recent years.

Stayed at Chaa Creek in October 2007 and absolutely loved it! The rooms and grounds are extremely well kept. Service is outstanding. Any small request was met with a smile. The food was quite delicious. Definately do not miss out on dinner. It was so hard to choose a main-dish option (there are three each night) because they all looked so yummy! Plenty of activities on-site or close by, but it's also perfect if you just want to relax and do absolutely nothing.

We stayed at Chaa Creek Lodge during the first week of Feb. '07. The pristine property, beautiful room (tree top suite), fabulous food (choice of healthy or less diet conscious), tons of activities and best of all the staff! The staff was extremely knowledgeable (i.e. horseback riding to the Mayan Farm, morning and night hikes, Nature Center, etc.) were so nice and so accomodating. We had an amazing trip and highly recommend Chaa Creek Lodge to all.
