Two retired American lawyers, Jim and Sharyn Brinker, opened this small, intimate lodge in late 2007. Six well-designed cabañas are set in the shade on a low hill, with pimento walls, thatch roofs, and furniture handmade at the lodge and elsewhere in Belize. They're outfitted with everything you'll need, down to flashlights, purified water coolers, and umbrellas. Meals are served in the main lodge building, which also has a bar, an art-filled guest study, and a gift shop. Dinners are themed, with international touches from the owners' travels, and cost BZ$56 for a four-course meal, plus tax and service. Pros: Personalized service, attractive cabañas. Cons: Pricey meals, bumpy 30-minute drive from San Ignacio.
