Fodor's Review:

Designed with the nature lover in mind, this hilltop lodge aspires toward comfort rather than luxury. Owners Bart and Suzi Mickler designed the nature trails. One trail passes 150 edible jungle plant species; the other focuses on ornamental plants. In summer they run workshops on ecology, birding, and other subjects. The whitewashed, newly renovated cottages all have private patios. A large wooden building has rooms, recently renovated with air-conditioning added, for budget-conscious guests. The pleasant open-air dining room serves tempting, wholesome food. There's an aboveground pool, and the lodge runs a variety of tours and trips. Pros: Comfortable, unpretentious; good food. Cons: Roadside location.

  • Hotel Details: 8 cottages, 6 rooms
  • In-room: no phone, no TV.
  • In-hotel: restaurant, pool, laundry service, Internet terminal.
  • Credit Cards: AE, MC, V
