This lodge is operated by the Tut (pronounced Toot) family—Mom and Dad Tut and 10, yes, 10, children. Mom and the daughters cook and run the lodge, and several of the sons are accomplished guides for birding, caving, and river expeditions. There's a range of lodging, from simple rooms to traditional thatch cabañas with views of the Macal River Valley. Rates, starting at BZ$185 double including tax, are affordable, but are made even more so as delicious, fresh-made breakfasts and dinners, served in an open palapa, are included in the price. Pros: With meals included, this is one of the best buys in the Cayo; good guided tours. Cons: No-frills rooms and cabañas.
