Green Hills Butterfly Ranch and Botanical Collections

  • Address: Mile 8, Chiquibul Rd. (also called Mountain Pine Ridge Rd.), Mountain Pine Ridge

Fodor's Review:

More than 30,000 pupae are raised annually at the Green Hills Butterfly Ranch and Botanical Collections, the largest and best of Belize's butterfly farms open to the public. For a closer look at the creatures, the facility, located outside the Mountain Pine Ridge reserve, has about 30 species in a huge flight area. Jan Meerman, who's published a book on Belize's butterflies, runs the place with Dutch partner Tineke Boomsma. On the grounds also are many flowers, including passionflowers, bromeliads, heliconias, and orchids.
