Budget travelers jump at the opportunity to stay in this tidy, attractive, and cheap hotel in Santa Elena, a low-key town adjoining San Ignacio. Aguada became so popular that the owners, a Belizean-American couple, added more rooms overlooking the pool. There's a friendly restaurant with Belizean dishes and American standards like burgers. In the large common room are a TV and games. The hotel has a van that runs to and from the airports in Belize City for around BZ$80 a person. Pros: Clean, inexpensive, safe rooms with air-conditioning, one of the few budget hotels in Belize with a pool. Cons: Location is a bus or taxi ride away (though the ride's short) from downtown San Ignacio.
