Owned by a prominent Belize City family, Hidden Valley Inn sits on 7,200 acres and has more than a dozen waterfalls and 90 mi (150 km) of hiking and mountain biking trails. The estate grounds, including the waterfalls, are exclusively for guests and not open to the public. Romantics can enjoy a catered champagne lunch at their own private waterfall. The cottages have mahogany furnishings, tile floors, and fireplaces. Dinner (BZ$72 including tax and service) is served in the main house, which has vaulted ceilings and four fireplaces. After dinner, sip coffee grown on the premises. They've recently added a private airstrip. Pros: Charming lodge atmosphere, wonderful waterfalls, excellent birding. Con: Loss of many mature pines due to the pine beetle means it can be hot and dry on the trails.
