Ka'ax Tun Rock Shelters

Ka'ax Tun Rock Shelters Review

Local people are trying to develop Ka'ax Tun, Mayan for "Big Rock," into a tourist destination. (Don't confuse this with the other Big Rock, another site on the Privassion Creek.) Ka'ax Tun is a labyrinth of caves and rocks sculpted by water. At one time, it may have been used by the Maya for religious ceremonies. You can walk the trails at this 20-acre site near the village of El Progresso. Moonracer Farm organizes tours to this evolving site.
