Caves Branch Adventure Co. & Jungle Camp Review

As part of general upgrading, this former no-frills adventure lodge has added hillside "treehouse suites" 20 feet above the ground (from BZ$660 single or double), a multilevel swimming pool with Jacuzzi, and a botanical garden featuring orchids and bromeliads. Camping is no longer available, but budget-minded guests can still head to the bunkhouse (BZ$68 single or double), and all of the accommodations, including the rustic cabañas with separate outside showers (under BZ$300 single or double) are still lit by kerosene lamps. Manager Ian Anderson and his highly trained jungle and cave guides offer more than 20 wilderness adventures in a 58,000-acre private reserve. Day trips are priced from BZ$150 to BZ$500 per person. On the River of Caves trip (BZ$170) you spend hours floating around underground lakes and crawling past stalagmites into dry chambers. Cold Belikins await you when you return, followed by a delicious but rather pricey dinner (BZ$56).
