If you enjoy little luxuries like a whirlpool bath in your room, this red tile–roofed complex about 1½ mi (2½ km) south of town may suit you splendidly. You won't feel cramped here—stylishly furnished two-bedroom condos with verandas overlooking the sea have cathedral ceilings with tropical hardwoods. The kid-friendly pool is one of the island's largest, and Mar de Tumbo tops the short list of the island's best beaches. The on-site restaurant, Rico's Bar & Grill,
has one of the island's most beautiful seaside restaurant settings. Sadly, several years of management by hired hands from a bank that foreclosed on the property has had an impact, but the property is still a enjoyable place to stay.

We just got back from a stay at Banyan Bay. We stayed in the new section which is right next door to the original resort. It is called Grand Colony Villas. That was wonderful because we had access not only to the original Banyan Bay pool and facilities but also to the new BETTER pool at Grand Colony. It was 3 sections, clean and beautiful with a perfect view of the beach and ocean. The condo was incredible (granite counters, beautiful wood
cabinetry, comfy beds and nice linens). Maid service was daily and great. Food at Rico's restaurant was delicious but the service was a little slow at times. Water( or the lack thereof) was a problem on several occasions but apparently this a problem on the entire island. It always returned, but it was frustrating to not be able to take a shower when you wanted. Overall, a great place...we would definitely return.

May 2004, we stayed in one of the beach view condos upstairs and we loved the views. The spacious condos are awesome along with a nice pool. The staff is very customer service oriented. Having a dive shop with staff that is very informative and helpful was a great convience for us. We loved this resort and would go back again without a doubt.
