Fodor's Review:

If you're looking for a peaceful setting and well-maintained rooms at reasonable prices, this condotel with one-bedroom units is a good choice. Kick back with a cool cocktail from the 24-hour pool's swim-up bar, or stay in and cook dinner in the pretty kitchens, which have mahogany cabinets, fridges, microwaves, and small butane stoves. If you want to eat out, skip the on-site restaurant—the food is so-so—and head instead for one of the nearby eateries, some of the island's best. Or, you can go into town on the resort's boat (BZ$10 per person each way). A new sister resort next door, Coco Beach, with 35 condos, mostly two-bedroom, opened in 2008. Pros: Comfortable condos, great pool, lots of on-site sports activities. Cons: Poor beach swimming, mediocre restaurant.

When we arrived, our room was hot and full of mosquitoes. It was so bad that we went into town to buy some Off citronella candles and bug spray. As we went to dinner I stopped by the office to let them know that with the air conditioner on full blast and all the fans going the room was still 80 degrees. After dinner I stopped by the front office and they assured me it was fixed. Upon arrival back in our room we not only still had a mosquito problem, but now there were large ants everywhere on the floor. As I was stepping on them my wife noticed an army of small red bugs in the bathroom. As I searched around the room I also noticed there were, what appeared to be flying ants, all over the walls. The 1D unit was infested!
The staff quickly readied another room and we had to repack and move all of our stuff into the other unit. Fortunately there were no mosquitoes but the ant spray that was under the sink did come in handy that first night. If there had been an available flight home the next day we would have taken it. Thankfully for the remainder of the trip we had no additional bug problems.
Belize is an excellent place to get away and there are plenty of things to do both in San Pedro as well as in Belize City and the surrounding areas. We had an excellent time exploring and seeing the sights. The staff did an excellent job facilitating our participation in these activities and the people couldn’t be nicer.
We would go back to Belize/San Pedro but unfortunately would not stay at Belizean shores. I would have paid a little more to ensure I was able to stay in a bug free and well air-conditioned room.

Belizean Shores was a fantastic choice. I booked it directly by emailing them at belizean_shores@yahoo.com and the reservations staff was so helpful and help me choose the right condo for me and my wife. Contrary to the first review, we found the Upperdeck Restaurant on site to be an excellent choice and we had 75% of our meals there. The pool is out of this world for all, kids, lovers, cocktail drinkers.
The management went out of their way to see that all details were adhered to. We will be back for sure in 2008!

We loved Belizean Shores!! Great staff. Well kept grounds and the best pool on the island. Dock staff for snorkeling was friendly and helpful. We stepped off our porch onto the sand – no cement or asphalt here. We didn’t expect too much from the restaurant from the guide book reports but after a cautious try, we found it to be under new management and it has wonderful menus for breakfast, lunch (available all day) and dinner. The food is superb and there is something for everyone. The special one night was a dinner for two of lobster, snapper, shrimp, grouper and rice for $37.50 US. A bargain on price and delicious, too.
