Fodor's Review:

Many of the visitors here are tour groups from cruise ships, but you also can visit the museum on your own. In a large warehouse-style building, exhibits are devoted to the Maya, Garífuna, and Creoles in Belize City and the rain forest and displays on logging, chicle harvesting, and sugar production. Also at the site of the museum are a marina; a restaurant, Sibun Bite Bar & Grill, where you can get a decent hamburger; a gift shop; and Cucumber Beach, a small man-made beach that's the only one near Belize City. Newly opened in 2008 are a zip line, 750,000-gallon saltwater swimming pool with an artificial reef, and a water slide.

  • Cost: BZ$30
  • Open: Sun. and Mon. 10–4, Tues.–Sat. 8–4
