Radisson Fort George

Fodor's Review:

Porters in white pith helmets perpetuate a sense of British colonialism at Belize City's best-known large hotel. Lush red and ocher fabrics, faux-leopard carpets, and reproduction rattan and hardwood antiques attempt to re-create the British raj of the 1880s, albeit showing some wear and tear. There are panoramic views of the sea through tinted glass from rooms in the six-story tower, while those in the villa wing across the road overlook the river and one of the hotel's two pools (however, a few rooms in this wing don't have any windows). Dining options include the expensive St. George's Dining Room, the Stonegrill where food is grilled at tables on heated volcanic stones, or the coffee shop, Le Petit Café. The Baymen's Tavern is one of the city's upscale watering holes. Pros: Belize City's best international-style hotel choice, waterfront location in Fort George area. Cons: Dated furnishings in some rooms, staff not always as friendly as you'd like.
