Cons
Hotel Mopan Review
Established in 1973 by Jean Shaw, a pioneer in Belize tourism, the Hotel Mopan has been known for attracting interesting guests, including archaeologists, adventurers, and birders, though its best days are in the past. Prices are perhaps a little higher than they should be (BZ$148 with tax and service, single or double year-round, for a balcony room), and at night the location is very sketchy. The hotel is now run by Shaw's children, who have upgraded and renovated the property a bit.
