In the former Customs House, the Tourism Village is predominantly geared to cruise-ship passengers, being their official port of entry. Cruise ships dock offshore and are tendered into the Tourism village. Belizeans are discouraged from going into the Village, or may even be denied admittance. As a visitor, you may be required to show your passport and obtain a pass to enter. Inside and in the immediate vicinity of the Tourism Village are several gift shops, restaurants,
tour companies, and taxi stands. On days when there are cruise ships in town, local vendors set up small stands selling crafts, food, and drink on the streets nearby.
