Radisson Fort George Hotel and Marina
2 Marine Parade, Belize City, Belize District, Belize
Opened in 1953, the country's first modern hotel is now the city's best international-style large hotel, and it's located in the historic Fort George section with panoramic views of the sea from the more expensive rooms. The best rooms though are in the modern glass-fronted six-story Club Tower, a later addition, with sea views. "Business Class" rooms have upgraded amenities such as room refrigerators. Rooms in the Villa Wing across the street, formerly a Holiday Inn, overlook the river and one of the hotel's two pools. The Colonial Wing rooms are convenient but need some upgrading. Dining options include the fairly expensive St. George's Dining Room, the poolside Stonegrill Restaurant, or the expanded coffee shop, Le Petit Café, where the baked goods are very reasonably priced. The Baymen's Tavern is one of the city's upscale watering holes and attracts a large local following on weekends. The hotel's marina and dock are in the process of being rebuilt after Hurricane Earl in 2013.
