Fodor's Review:
If you hang around the pool or the small shared balcony overlooking the street and the bay beyond, it's not hard to get to know the other guests -- many of them savvy budget travelers from Europe and Canada. A shared, open-air kitchen on the fourth floor has a great view, too. Rooms are spare and vaultlike -- some have scruffy features -- and security on the first floor isn't what it should be. But the showers are hot, and the beds comfortable (if you like a very firm mattress). Freddy's Tucan, the indoor-outdoor bar-restaurant (no dinner; $) is popular with locals -- mainly for breakfast. The hotel is in a prime part of the Zona Romántica known for its restaurants and shops; Playa los Muertos is a few blocks away.
