Built like a Maya pyramid, this Nuevo Vallarta hotel and time-share property is perfect for families, with lots of activities geared to children. Many people love it, others complain of the over-zealous time-share pitch and poor service. All suites have balconies with either marina or ocean views; the smallest, a junior suite, is 700 square feet. Furnishings are attractive as well as functional, with pretty cane sofa beds in a soothing palette and well-equipped kitchens. Locals like to visit the clean, well-organized spa, which smells divine, and is noted for its massages and facials. The beach here is tranquil enough for swimming, although some small waves are suitable for bodysurfing.

Marina better than OceanView

This was our second time to Paradise Village. We liked it so much the first time that we brought an even larger group (family) this time. The front desk suggested that we put two of our rooms together and take one of their suites on the Marina. Wow, was that nice. We were away from the crowd, noise, commotion of the main hotel. The Shuttle to and from the Grand Marina was efficient, the staff friendly. We were right next to the Mall which made it nice for teenagers, quick errands. We liked our private pool at Grand Marina--hardly anyone else was there. BBQ'd at the pool, etc. Also, we were within walking distance of Paradise Village's new development, Playa Royale, and those wonderful pools--the kids pool was amazing. Then on the last day, after a couples massage at the golf course, we walked back and stopped in at Paradise Village's newest addition--an amazing, and I mean AMAZING, sports complex. The folks at the main hotel and on the beach won't even see this complex, its designed for Members and folks who are staying there regularly, but anyone can buy a day membership for 14 bucks. Worth it. The Sports Complex, plus the great spas (two), really tempt us to go back. It is a great beach for our family. The kids love it. If we want a romantic getaway we would likely stay at Vallarta Palace (next door, and exclusive) or Playa del Sol or go over to Sayulita or those environs (i.e., Punta de Mita, etc.). Yes, the sales folks are pushy, and bothersome at times. I hate the emphasis on tequila games, etc. at a supposed family-resort, but we'd go back because it is a Mexican vacation that works for our family.
