$$$, San Francisco
Fodor's Review:
The vibe is warm and romantic, the cozy-chic rooms -- endowed with original paintings, folk art, and super-comfortable king beds with pillowtop mattresses and mosquito nets -- are perfect for spooning and honeymooning. Drinks by the pool, walks on the beach, and trips into town or down to Sayulita (5 km [3 mi] south) are about as ambitious as most guests get. Each ocean-facing patio (some private, some shared) has either a hammock or table with equipale (pigskin) chairs. American owners provide opinions and information about the area. Breakfasts are varied and expansive. Kahlua, the well-behaved doodle dog, is a boon to pet-starved guests.
