Beaches, Downtown Puerto Vallarta
Fodor's Review:
The rock-strewn beach paralleling the malecón and the beach hotels like Rosita and El Pescador just north of it is Playa Camarones. Hurricane Kenna (2002) stole mucho arena (a lot of sand), however, and most people prefer to walk along the cement boardwalk than the beach here. Likewise, although the waves are gentle, the ocean floor is rocky and most bathers opt for the hotel pool. What you see here most often are small groups of men and boys surf casting, more for diversion than for hopes of great catches.
