Fodor's Review:
Although every inch of the place is painted, tiled, or otherwise decorated with bright Mexican colors and handicrafts, the effect is distinctive rather than fussy. Perhaps that's because rooms and suites incorporate local building styles and materials, including plank floors, reed mats, bamboo walls, and palm-frond roofs. They're cooled by battery-powered fans and lighted by lanterns, candles, and low-wattage lamps. Rustic but lovely bathrooms bring the outdoors in through large open windows. Signal for morning coffee by running up the red flag. On a long stretch of beach, this isolated hotel is an idyllic escape for its clientele: about 60% American, 25% European, and 100% laid-back. There's an obligatory meal plan of $179 for two people.
