$-$$$, Italian, Tulum
Fodor's Review:
This small, cozy café is like an outpost of Italy on the Caribbean Coast. A few tables are nestled under a palapa with a tile floor; there's also outdoor seating in a garden. Many of the Italian dishes contain fresh fish; the grilled calamari in a lemon-and-white wine sauce is wonderful as is the spaghetti marinara with mixed seafood. For a Mayan twist, try the risotto with chaya (a Yucatecan type of spinach) and cheese. Be sure to leave room for dessert, too: the tiramisu is divine.
