You can choose your dinner live from a tank here, and if it's grilled, you pay by the weight -- a small lobster costs $15, while a monster will set you back $100. At night, the candlelighted dining room draws a good crowd. People come not only for the lobster but also for the ceviche, mussels, jumbo shrimp, or imported T-bone steak. Ask for a table on the terrace overlooking the street.

I LOVED IT ! ! ! Best restaurant I went to in MX

The other posters here must not have known what they were eating! In Mexico the lobster they serve is the "Spiny Lobster," also referred to as the rock lobster, spotted lobster, or caribbean lobster. It is NOT Maine/N.Atlantic lobster. It is not as succulent or juicy as its close relative up north. If you order it grilled...it will be dry. Get it prepared another way, I had grilled lobster in Akumal and was not pleased with it. But I LOVED the Blue Lobster. The ambiance was just what I needed after a day in PDC, with their swanky lighting and bold fabrics. I enjoyed the food, as well as the 4 foot menu they bring to the table :) I would go back in a heart beat. I just wish they had more souviniers.

Awful Food!

The lobster is bland and overcooked. Do not eat here. Other reviews are correct - the lobsters are all frozen and are not prepared well. Don't waste your money.

There's NO FRESH LOBSTER HERE

After reading this Fodor's review, I specifically went to the Blue Lobster to pick out my lobster dinner "live from a tank" but I was told they had no live lobsters (and never did). There were lobster tails already cut from the lobster, on a giant tray of ice that I had my pick of. Even though not live, I was told that the tails were fresh, so I went with it. You pay by the ounce - $1 per ounce, so I asked for the largest tail they had, which was 32 oz. They pointed me to a brownish-reddish-green colored tail that looked suspect, so instead I picked the second largest tail which looked better. You can have the tail prepared grilled, broiled, steamed and some other way (i forgot now, though I just ate dinner there 3 days ago). Everyone's lobster at the table was overcooked, which means tough and chewy. Also, you could tell the lobster wasn't fresh because it didn't have that super strong lobster flavor that fresh lobster always has. It was BLAND. They served it with melted butter on the side and a chimichurri dressing, which you really needed in order to chew and swallow the meat. In all honesty, I went to this restaurant wanting to love it, even after I found out that they didn't have live lobsters. Granted, the lobster was cheap, but I think you can find a better lobster dinner at Red Lobster. With so many great traditional mexican restaurants to chose from in PDC, avoid this tourist trap. Unfortuantely, I didn't find any restaurant that had "live" lobsters in PDC, so I can't recommend a place for that. But for great tradidional Mexican, try La Parilla on 5th street (the main drag). I wasn't disappointed there.
