Cabo's brilliant sunsets are best viewed from the Pacific side of Baja's tip. The Finisterra's Whale Watcher Bar and the Solmar's palapa (palm thatch) bar have long been favorite perches for ocean lovers any time of day. As gold and rose tint the sky, all eyes turn westward to the long, nearly empty beach and the endless expanse of natural scenery. Most sunset cruise boats glide past the land-bound onlookers. If you want to be part of the scenery, board the Pirate Cruise or La Princesa. On the Sea of Cortez side of the tip, El Arco, Cabo's famous Arch, stands out against the sunset's glow. Claim one of the cliff-top tables at Ristorante Sunset Da Mona Lisa Italian Restaurant for spectacular panoramas, or join the revelers praising the fading light at one of Playa Médano's beach bars. One of the best ways to enjoy the sunset in San José del Cabo is to go horseback riding on the beach. This can be arranged at most of the hotels.
