$-$$, Mexican, Zona Minerva

Fodor's Review:

From 9:30 PM on, expect waiters and diners to sing along with the mariachi bands at this touristy restaurant. The menu emphasizes steak, and the fiesta continues until 3 AM. A bar by the same name catercorner to the restaurant stays open late.

Good Entertainment, OK Food

Posted by Rich from Chicago on 8/30/06

Had dinner there in Aug. 2006. Food is OK, not great. Atmosphere is Mexican tourist. Very dark at night, you will need your cell phone to light up the menu. Traditional Mexican dancers & the singer with them were quite good. Mariachi band was large (12-15 people)and also very good. A note about Mexican time: when they tell you something starts at 10:00, that doesn't mean it will start promptly at 10:00. It means it will start sometime after 10:00, which could be 10:30 or 11:00.

Good food, good atmosphere

Posted by Amy from Puerto Rico on 7/29/06

The food and drinks were good, the music was excellent (they had Mariachi Juvenil Mi Mexico - great performance). Been to Mexico for 5 times now, I have visited a lot of places, and this one was worth the visit. Maybe my opinion is different because I'm used to the country. I had a great time, and will go back (went on my fourth trip - Summer 2005).

Not worth the cab fare

Posted by James from Maryland, USA on 2/19/06

It was dark and it was hard for two of my coworkers to read the menu because of the dimness in the place. The margarita I had was too sweet and did not taste like there was any alcohol in it at all. I was there on a Saturday evening and was told that the mariachi band would begin playing at 9:30. People at the table next to me asked a few minutes later and they were told 10. We asked a different waitress and she said they are never on time to begin with and they probably would not start til 11. The food was the best part but it was not anything to write home about. Take the other advice here and find another place to spend your hard earned money.
