A colossal nine-story property at the north end of the Zona, the Palace is visually stunning and different from the modern, minimalist resorts that dot the Zona Hotelera. Here the decoration is a bit Baroque. There are towering columns and cupolas in the lobby and even the most basic guest rooms (all are suites) have ornate mahogany furniture in the sitting rooms. In contrast to the spacious suites, the pools are fairly small and the beach even tinier. Due to the hotel's location, sunbathers will mostly be in the shade by late afternoon, but an exchange program allows gusts access to sister properties Riu Cancún and Riu Caribe. This resort mainly attracts guests over 40.
