Tarsus

Tarsus

St. Paul was born some 2,000 years ago in Tarsus, though little sign of the saint remains nowadays in what has become a dusty, sleepy provincial town of no great interest. The only surviving piece of antiquity is the Gate of Cleopatra Kancik Kapisi and there is also a 16th-century covered bazaar known as the Kirkkasik, or "40 Spoons."
