Andriake Review

Andriake was the port of ancient Myra and a major stopover on the Egypt-to-Rome route that supplied most of Rome's wheat. St. Paul changed ships here on his journey to Rome in 60 AD. Hadrian built a huge granary here—it's hidden in the bushes south of the road just before you get to the modern port of Demre, and is also clearly visible from the Kas-Demre road, just west of Demre, as you come around the last bend. Recent excavations also found a synagogue in the same area. If you're willing to ford the waist-deep water of the creek, Üçagiz is about a seven-hour walk on the Lycian Way with several pretty costal sections.
