Eski Datça and Reshadiye

Eski Datça and Reshadiye

Turkish satirical poet and polemical left-wing social critic Can Yücel retired to a modest old stone house in Eski Datça, setting an artistic tone for this pretty backwater spot, and for nearby Reshadiye. The formerly Greek-populated village, 3 km (2 mi) inland from Datça harbor on the road to Reshadiye, is one of the few in Turkey that has survived intact. It's now experiencing fine restoration efforts that have produced several lovely small houses to rent. Nobody hurries through the stone-paved alleys.
