Fodor's Expert Review İznik Müzesi

Iznik

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

Artifacts such as Greek tombstones, Ottoman jewelry, pieces of Byzantine floor mosaics, and original İznik tiles will on be display in this museum when it hopefully reopens in 2016. The high-domed white room was constructed in 1388 as a soup kitchen to serve food to the poor. In the same complex are two mosques, the smaller Şeyh Kutbuddin Camii and the larger Yeşil Cami, the latter notable for its colorfully tiled minaret and intricate stone-cutting work.
