The port of Assos is a marvel, pressed against the sheer cliff walls. It's crammed with small hotels built of volcanic rock, a fleet of fishing boats, and a small rocky beach at each end. A short but steep drive up from the port, Behramkale village is home to the lofty ruins of ancient Assos—the Acropolis—which provide a panoramic view over the Aegean. It has blossomed in recent years and now surpasses the port area in terms of prices—and perhaps in charm as well. Nowadays, the name "Behramkale" is used for the village at the top and "Assos" for the port area.
Outside of June, July, August, and weekends the rest of the year, the area is less crowded and prices are likely to come down a bit, especially in the port. For more spacious and sandier beaches try Kad?rga, on the way to Küçükkuyu.
