Kültür Parkı Review
Izmir's vast, central park has approximately 8,000 trees to stroll under, as well as 14 exhibition halls, an open-air theater, a culture center, the History and Arts Museum, a sports arena, a swimming pool, tennis courts, and more.
Tarih ve Sanat Müzesi. On the grounds of Kültür Parkı, this museum compound is made up of three buildings, which showcase statuary, ancient ceramic finds. The museum is rarely crowded, and the the Hellenistic and Roman-era statues are delightfully evocative—look out for the tiny statue of a hermaphrodite, as well as monumental carved gods and goddesses recovered from Izmir's Agora and nearby sites. With better lighting than the Archaeology Museum, if you're picking just one museum in Izmir to see with kids, this museum's manageable size, interesting contents, and park location make it a strong contender. East of Lozan and Montrö squares, Kültür Parkı, 35220. 232/445–6818. 3 TL. Tues.–Sun. 8:30–6:30.
