Göl-Türkbükü

The two adjacent coastal towns of Gölköy and Türkbükü merged a decade ago to become Göl-Türkbükü, the most glamorous part of the Bodrum Peninsula. Türkbükü, which has been aptly called the "St. Tropez of Turkey," is the summer playground of jet-setting, high-society Turks and foreigners, and its coastline is pleasantly packed with bars, cafés, restaurants, and boutiques. Gölköy has a slower pace and more stretches of undeveloped waterfront; Türkbükü is the see-and-be-seen hot spot for socializing, partying, and dining. Note that there's not much more to do in Gölköy besides sunbathe. Neither of its two beaches has sand, but the water is accessible from wooden decks. Private motorboats splash between the two bays; the local dolmu? is more prosaic, but a lot cheaper.
