Ayasofya Pansiyonlari & Konuk Evi

Fodor's Review:

These accommodations are part of the project undertaken by Turkey's Touring and Automobile Club to restore (or authentically re-create) a movie-set-like street of 19th-century wooden houses along the outer wall of Topkapi Palace. The charming, pastel-colored houses of Ayasofya Pansiyonlari have been turned into pansiyons furnished in late Ottoman style. Front rooms have up-close views of Aya Sofya, but the rest do not, so if you want a view, specify when you reserve. The nearby Konuk Evi is an Ottoman mansion that has been restored in similar fashion and has larger rooms. Breakfast is served in the Konuk Evi's shaded garden in summer. Pros: unique buildings; location adjacent to Aya Sofya. Cons: high room rates because of location.
