The comfortable and inviting room decor emphasizes local character, while the bustling, ornate lobby and warm, helpful staff convey feelings of refined luxury. Smallish standard rooms come with wooden furnishings, hanging Ottoman-style brass lamps, traditional artwork, and kilims, while the similarly decorated higher-category rooms are larger and have balconies overlooking Gülhane Parkı. An indoor plunge pool, Turkish bath, sauna, and small fitness room are on the premises, and the hotel offers complimentary Turkish cooking classes and neighborhood walks (sign up in advance, as space is limited), afternoon tea, and other perks.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming hotel in Istanbul. It is just steps from the tram line which is the way to get around in Istanbul, unless you would like to walk. Sirkeci Konak is ideal for walkers too, as it is 10-25 minutes from all the major sites and the Old City's best restaurants. We arrived early and were invited to have their buffet breakfast which features really nice choices- many Turkish foods and scrumptious local breads and
pastries. Breakfast is included in the room price. I understand from some of the other guests that many of the rooms are small. We stayed in a junior suite overlooking Gulhane Park, and our room was plenty big, fortunately. It was nicely appointed, clean, and bed was very comfortable. The rooftop restaurant was very breezy, but how nice to have a free welcome dinner there. The food was very good. The thing that really sets Sirkeci Konak apart is their friendly, detailed service. Prior to our arrival, the concierge (Merve Onal in this case) simply went out of her way to explain the sites to see and the restaurants to go to in Istanbul. Upon our arrival, Samet was so friendly and thorough on briefing us on entertainment activities and all of our reservations for restaurants and tours. Everyone is so kind at this hotel. One night, I got hungry before bed, went up to the roof top restaurant and asked if I could have some bread. I was given a basket of delicious Turkish breads and a small bowl of a really tasty spread of sundried tomatoes, olives, garlic and spices. Yummy - and free! I would recommend this hotel highly for the charm, service, and location. If you pay for a high room with a Gulhane Park view and a terrace, you will not regret it.
