Fodor's Review:

Istanbul's oldest synagogue dates back to at least 1400, when it was founded by Jews from what is today Macedonia. It was extensively restored in the 1990s to the very baroque form of its last major reconstruction in the 1700s. To visit, permission must be obtained in advance from the chief rabbinate.
