Only open since 2003, Giritli has already become an Istanbul classic, and with a prix-fixe only menu of Cretan specialties that includes a generous four courses and unlimited drink (wine or raki), it's easy to understand why. The food is outstanding, with an enormous selection of delicious appetizers like sea bass ceviche, herb-covered cubes of feta cheese with walnuts and green onion, and perfectly grilled calamari. Starters are followed by a choice of freshly caught fish (there aren't any other options), either grilled or fried. The restaurant garden, with its whitewashed walls and blue trim, feels like a slice of the Greek islands in the middle of Istanbul.
