Fodor's Review:

This good-value hotel is within walking distance of all the major sites of Sultanahmet, yet far enough from the hustle and bustle that you won't be overwhelmed when you step out the door. Rooms do not have cutting-edge decor, but are clean and comfortable, with carpeting, warm yellow wallpaper, lounge chairs, and each has a small desk. The rooftop terrace has a small restaurant where breakfast is served in summer—it's also a nice place for an evening drink. For an extra fee, the hotel offers Turkish cooking classes, at the end of which guests eat what they've prepared. Pros: staff eager to help; good value. Cons: rooms somewhat lacking in character; no elevator; small rooms and bathrooms.

I chose the hotel based on several on line opinions and recommendations.I was disappointed in the service and general cleanliness of the hotel.I was promised a free transfer to the hotel, but the driver never showed up,despite reassurances from the management. There is no elevator,so the climb up to the terrace for breakfast was exhausting. the food was ok. the rooms were small and I saw no comfortable chairs in them. If you like hard beds, then this is the place for you! I didn't see dinner on the terrace,in fact, the restaurant seemed to be closed. The eternal traffic jam on kucuk ayasofya was a constant annoyance in trying to get anywhere. Good restaurants around, really liked the aya sofya across from the hotel. Lots of places to shop and get bargains, and the Arasta bazaar is just up the street. Beware the mini bar charges! I just went out and bought food, much cheaper. they were charging almost $2.00 for a soda I could buy for .50! No public transportation, have to walk to Sultanahmet for that,as well as for ATMS. The blue trams are in the square and good value. Lots of things to see,all the sights, but the crowds are so big,it is hard to just sit and enjoy the sun.Cabs are plentiful and also cheap, but the traffic is horrible. Be prepared for long waits to get anywhere. There are a lot of hotels in this area, some good, some ok. Really research them before choosing one.
