Mikla is part of the upper echelon of Istanbul restaurants and, on the top floor of the 18-story Marmara Pera Hotel, it has a stunning 360-degree view of Istanbul. American-trained Turkish-Finnish chef Mehmet Gürs brings both Turkish and Nordic influences into his contemporary kitchen, with results such as smoked lamb loin with walnut pesto and white bean puree, and grilled grouper with sun-dried tomato, eggplant puree, and poached artichoke. The decor feels sleek and Scandinavian: black place mats are set on wood tables, complemented with minimalist black and metal chairs. An extensive, though expensive, wine list features gems from Turkey and around the world.
