Named after the massive sycamore tree growing through the center of the restaurant and shading the upstairs terrace with its branches, Çinaralti ("under the sycamore") draws a larger number of locals than some of the other, nearly identical, restaurants lining Ortaköy's waterfront square. A refrigerated case inside the restaurant holds the catch of the day—go in and pick out your fish after first sampling some of the mezes. With its relaxed service, spacious feel, and simple but attractive decor, Çinaralti is refreshingly unpretentious and reasonably priced in a neighborhood known for its trendiness.
