Çınaraltı Review

Named after the massive sycamore tree growing through the center of the restaurant and shading the upstairs terrace, Çınaraltı ("under the sycamore") has been in business for three decades in the same spot on Ortaköy's waterfront square. With its relaxed service, spacious feel, and simple decor, it has remained refreshingly unpretentious and reasonably priced in a neighborhood known increasingly for its trendiness. The spring roll-like fish pastry is a highlight among the wide but otherwise fairly standard selection of mezes, while fish is mainly served grilled or fried (make sure the price quoted is per fish or serving, not per kilo).
