It doesn't get more Swiss than this: the ingredients, the recipes, the wines, and the decor are all Helvetian. (The cook is German, but never mind.) This former local greasy spoon has been buffed to an elegant shine, keeping the wainscotting and etched glass windows, adding linen tablecloths, a stuffed chamois head, and paintings of the Matterhorn and other well-known landmarks. Enjoy engadiner pizokel (flour dumplings) with ham, or duck breast with dried plum sauce and mashed potatoes.

We went out of our way to go to this restaurant in Zuri-West. Nobody greeted us at the door. We got menus and bread - no water, no explanations of the German-only menus, no greeting, nothing. We waited more than 15 minutes for somebody to take our order. They waited on everybody else but us. Finally, we had enough and left! Don't bother. These guys just couldn't care less about guests who come from afar. They simply don't respect visitors. Stay away!
