You may do a double take when you walk into the lobby of the Schneckenhaus (Snail House) annex here and discover a mini version of the white ramp of the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Starkly and colorfully modern, this hotel—about 5 km (3 miles) outside the city center—is a change-of-pace place. No one will cough at the crisply minimalistic rooms, all with parquet floors and many hued in deep orangey reds. Tram 6 heads straight to the hotel from the Hauptbahnhof.
